Hatwalks Prague

Vadim

Hatwalks Prague provides walking tours in and around Prague, focused on cultural and historical values. We show both classical landmarks and sights “off the beaten track” and bring them to life through unique storytelling.

Tours are small-group and based on conversation, not a script.

My name is Vadim, a Russia-born Prague citizen, a lifelong traveler and language learner, and the person behind the project.

Prague historical walk

A walking tour through Prague’s four main squares (Hradčany, Lesser Town, Old Town, and Wenceslas) takes you through centuries, from the 11th to the 21st.
Prague is called the "heart of Europe" for a reason—many events that shook the continent, like the Reformation and the Thirty Years' War, began here. It has seen both glory, as the capital of the Holy Roman Empire and young Czechoslovakia, and decline, as a mere city of Austro-Hungary. Its medieval churches, baroque palaces, and Bauhaus quarters hold memories of it all.
For centuries, Prague was a crossroads of German, Jewish, and Czech cultures. The Golem was created here; Doctor Faust lived here. It’s linked to Mozart, Kafka, and Milos Forman.
This is a 4-hour-long walk, at a moderate pace, with stops at sights for storytelling and conversation. It runs in small groups in a non-scripted conversational format and is fully exterior. You'll get practical advice too.

Vinohrady: Belle Époque Prague Walk - Parks, Villas and Mascarons

While most Prague tours focus on the Old Town, Prague Castle (and sometimes Vyšehrad), and the legendary early chapters of Czech history, this tour explores a district that emerged in the late 19th century, during Prague’s rise as an industrial and commercial centre of Austro-Hungary and, at the same time, as a focal point of the Czech patriotic movement. Its architecture is a clear manifestation of Neo-Renaissance and Modernist styles and is closely linked to the turbulent history of Prague in the 20th century, from the declaration of independent Czechoslovakia in 1918 to the fall of communism in 1989. Today, it is a trendy quarter mixing local and international vibes.

Meet the Genius Loci of Malá Strana

Discover Malá Strana, Prague’s unique Baroque district preserved for over 300 years beneath the Castle. Unlike many European quarters reshaped by modern development, it has retained noble palaces, quiet courtyards, monastery gardens, and cobbled streets almost unchanged since the 18th century.

During the 20th century, the quarter acquired a bohemian character, becoming a favorite among artists and intellectuals. Today, small galleries, antique shops, cafés, wineries, and pubs maintain this atmosphere within centuries-old buildings.

On this curated 3-hour walk, we’ll step inside the magnificent St. Nicholas Church, visit the lavish Vrtba Garden with rooftop views, wander through Prague’s oldest orchard, notice historic house signs that once replaced street numbers, and touch on Jan Neruda’s Tales of Malá Strana, capturing the neighborhood’s spirit.

We’ll pause at a small local café or pub to enjoy the atmosphere (drinks typically €2–5, not included).
